WORKSHOPS: Do I have to be creative?

WORKSHOPS: Do I have to be creative?

‘I am NOT creative……don’t expect much from me…..’

That’s something I hear regularly. As soon as my lovely people come in through the door, guaranteed I’m likely to hear this from at least one person. And, yet, guaranteed these same fab people leave with beautiful jewellery that they love.

See, you don’t need to have been arty, crafty, creative, imaginative in the past in order to make something arty, crafty, creative and imaginative right now. You have booked the session so somewhere deep down there is a little bit of you that says ‘I can do this’ and I absolutely promise that YOU can.

Every session, there are samples out to give you some inspiration. Plus, I demo what to do and it’s broken down into stages so it’s easy to follow. And those patterns and shapes you see?…..all done with texture mats and cutters so you don’t need to draw the patterns on. See? Easy peasy.  Pick a shape, select a pattern you like, roll the clay out, add the pattern, cut it out. Ta-daaaah 👏👌❤️

13 years ago, when I was teaching history, if you’d asked me if I was arty, I’d have laughed and prob said ‘garn’ in a very Eliza Dolittle fashion ( a response that expresses disbelief or mockery - used in My Fair Lady for everyone younger than me who is thinking who????). I think it’s our natural response to say we can’t do things until we’ve tried it….seen what we can actually do. And the answer is we can do quite a bit 🥰

So be BRAVE and give it a try. There’s lots of help along the way. BE that meme ‘She believed she could so she did’.
